This
is an amazing free route along the sea front in Arrecife. It joins the
Intercambiador (bus terminus) at one end with the old hospital at the
other. At each end there is a good free car park so avoiding the hassle
of central parking.
When the driver calls Arrecife Centro just cross the road and wait by
the taxi rank for the bus at the hour and every 20 minutes.
These are the pictures I took on the way.

Right on time we bustle off past the wonderful
Reducto beach with the Gran Hotel in the distance as the first stop. At
the Gran you can enjoy coffee and cake on the 17th Floor at a
reasonable price with a spectacular view.
Plenty of space on the beach with sun beds at 3 euros. Best at high
tide for a good swim or windsurf lesson. |

Cafes
abound along the front and some of the best are opposite the next stop
at the Sailing Club. The next stop is near the playpark at the
bottom of the main shopping street, Calle Real.

This
drawbridge leads to the castle San Gabriel which houses the museum of
the history of Arrecife.
With the sea on the right we soon come to the beautiful Charco harbour
where time stands still and fishing boats rise and fall with the
timeless tide. The variety of restaurants is amazing.

The
bus turns at the Old Hospital, now used for convalescence. This is a
good spot for park and ride to the city or enjoying the Charco.
We return past the marina on the left to stop at the Calle Real.
Enjoy the market on Saturday. |

On
we go past more cafes until we dive up a side street away from the sea.
Joining the main road to Puerto del Carmen we find an unexpected
delight.
 |
|
Back we go to the Intercambiador via the other great free car park to serve the city. |
