CORONA -
KEEPING AS SAFE AS YOU CAN

Study of more than 10 academic papers leads me to believe there is a lot more you can do to reduce your chance of infection and improve your road to recovery.

How it happens so easily
1000 viral particles - you're infected
A breath releases 3000
Speaking releases 30000
A cough or sneeze 200,000,000
A sneeze fills a room at 200 miles per hour - run or you're infected
KEEP YOUR DISTANCE - WASH YOUR HANDS - MEET OUTSIDE BRIEFLY

South Africa in Danger

BAME RISK

Practical Application

No changes should be made in the treatment of an illness without consulting your doctor.

Suggestions are made based on the evidence available which is incomplete and any action is taken at your own risk.

The suggestions do not represent a cure for influenza or COVID-19 but are designed as measures to marginally reduce the risks of infection and transmission. They are not a substitute for any medical advice you receive.

If the European infection levels die down during May and June as Summer comes it could be expected that the Southern Hemisphere could be infected more severely. South Africa may be badly hit very shortly and all measures to save lives must be considered.

  1. Follow all the advice given by your doctor and the government for disinfecting surfaces, hand washing and social isolation.

  2. Take vitamin D if possible as a precaution. Get the sun on your skin whenever possible to build reserves, but don't burn. Learn about vitamin D deficiency.  Trinty College Dublin urges government to change its recommendations.
  3. Provide good ventilation
  4. If you are infected wear a good mask to protect others. Making an Easy Mask.
  5. Snort salt water up your nose and gargle often, as the 'flu virus and the corona virus is weakened by a salt solution. The nazal hairs are refreshed and cleansed.

  6. Maintain as high a humidity as possible for the sick person to reduce the spread of infection.

  7. Check for mould infestation and clean and treat to eliminate.

  8. Wear a perfume or aftershave if you are outside with a cold, cough, 'flu or corona to warn others they are too close.

Boiling water in a small room will raise humidity and reduce the spread of infection to others. Preferably half litre per hour should be used to allow for some ventilation. Some moisture will gather on cold walls but a mirror in the room should not steam. If you have a humidifier aim for 80% but anything above 40% will be beneficial.
